What is Wall insulation?
Filling the exterior walls of your home with adequate insulation is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to make your home more energy efficient. In addition to exterior walls, you can also choose to insulate interior walls for sound dampening (attenuation) to help control the noise transmittance throughout your home.
Wall Insulation Options
Most importantly, there are several insulation options available for walls - fiberglass batts, spray foam, and the blown-in blanket system (BIBS) . Each of these types of insulation have their different properties which may lead them to be better for certain projects, or goals.
Additional Wall Insulation information
Fiberglass Batt wall Insulation
Perhaps the most common exterior wall insulation in our region, fiberglass batts not only performs well but is also a low-cost option. Fiberglass batt insulation is available in both faced (paper backing) and unfaced options with a myriad of sizes and r-values.
Spray Foam Wall Insulation
Leading the way with efficiency, spray foam wall insulation provides an excellent air seal for you home, while providing a great r-value.
Blown-In Blanket System (BIBS) Wall Insulation
With the help of a mesh fabric that is stapled to the wall cavities, loose-fill fiberglass insulation can be blown into the wall cavity for a dense pack wall insulation known as “BIBS”. This method of wall insulation does an excellent job conforming to the cavity and provides a great r-value.

FAQs
What is the best Wall insulation?
There are many variables that come into play when selecting the best insulation (budget, efficiency needs, and structural information). While each insulation has it’s own place and strengths, we typically say spray foam insulation is best (if cost prohibits), with fiberglass, and cellulose following closely behind.
How much Wall insulation do I need?
We refer to local municipal code requirements to ensure we are prescribing at least the code requirement – it never hurts to exceed the code requirement.
Can I add to my existing Wall insulation?
For existing walls that are covered by drywall, you can add insulation through a process known as a “Drill & Fill”, however we do not offer this as a service.
Do you sell Wall Insulation Material?
Bolivar Insulation no longer sells material to the public. We do offer free estimates on installed material - in other words, it’s free to see how we can help you.
Do you remove Wall insulation?
From time to time, insulation removal is required due to the insulation being damaged, wet, moldy, or just old. We do offer insulation removal as a service. For walls, the sheetrock needs to be removed, and we can take it from there.
Do you insulate walls in old homes?
We absolutely do! All we ask is that the sheetrock be removed so that the wall cavities are exposed.
